To bring you closer to achieving your performance goals by providing an opportunity to develop technique, fitness and psychology in a squad environment.
This immersive camp consists of a highly structured program of technical analysis and correction, fitness training and theory combined with the opportunity to relax and interact with coaches and fellow athletes.
Whatever your distance or experience, the camp will provide a tailored program to meet your needs with several training options available most days.
Our aim is not to leave you feeling energized, trained but not exhausted and with the tools you need to keep progressing towards your goals.
Creating the environment
The camp will be run under a ‘Squad’ protocol where each athlete is for the duration a member of a highly motivated like-minded group committed to achieving their performance goals. Specific sessions may performed in micro-squads such as the ‘Ironcrew’ ensuring your training is your own and targeted to your goals. No matter what your goal you will perform much of your training together and will have plenty of opportunity to interact with the group during meal and SPA recovery times.
The power of a supportive, yet competitive environment is one of the key factors in developing to higher performance levels. The coaches are experienced in ensuring that within this environment that individuals learning styles, training requirements and mental strengths are catered for and respected.
The ethos is one of learning and education and all sessions are designed to be participative and interactive.
Graeme Stewart – a Scottish champion and finisher of seven iron distance races. He claims he is not fast but with a PB of 8hours 23min we are not convinced of this.
Stemming from a background as a research scientist he has a fantastically analytical approach. Graeme draws on the most up to date sports science to influence his thinking and has produced some outstanding performances from athletes in his coaching career, including many PBs, championship medals, races wins and professional debuts.
Alan Cardwell – Head coach at Lanark tri club, Scottish Coach of the year 2011 and swim smooth trained coach, Alan has a wealth of experience in helping age group athletes hit their goals with a 100% record for debut IM finishers or PB’s at the distance. Alan is particularly adept at working with athletes who are late bloomers and still competes himself, setting numerous PB’s at all distances whilst in his late 40’s.
The guys are a formidable team with an incredible ‘can- do ‘mentality and it is almost impossible not to be inspired after being around them.
Analysis and Correction.
Video based analysis and feedback across all three disciplines
Swim Smooth video analysis and stroke correction , small groups with the option of 1-2-1 during free time
Bike position, handling and pedal efficiency
Run form analysis and technique development
Theoretical & practical sessions.
Daily evening sessions where you will be encouraged to ask questions
Goal setting – realism, shooting for the dream and planning for performance
Performance psychology – high performance state, mind set, tricks of the trade, competing vs participating
Nutrition – supplements, diets and nutrition for racing and training
Training zones – how to use FTP, CSS and other zone based training systems
How to train – Principals, intensities, understanding your body
SWIM SMOOTH SWIM squad sessions using tech development and CSS work – daily
Group rides and closed races including TT sessions and an aquathon
Run sessions – Coached technique and interval work as well as optional road and trail runs
Athletes will complete the course having gained a deep understanding of what their current strengths and opportunities for improvement are and the ability to enhance and improve across every discipline. In addition, athletes will be fitter and ready to tackle the oncoming season with a great block of real quality training in the bank and a clear ability to plan how to deliver their goals
Unlike some training camps we provide an inclusive package to make it as economical as possible.
